my research
Nearly all my research to date has been on queer / LGBT issues, with a growing focus on trans and gender diversity. As can be seen on my CV (under Research in menu), I have studied in the US, India, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, and Japan. I am particularly interested in identity construction, globalisation, and finding joy amidst oppression.
Trans Experiences of Belonging in Japan
At this time (2023), I am in Tokyo to carry out a postdoc in trans studies. With colleagues, I am doing interviews with trans and gender-diverse people, to learn how they build resilience in the face of marginalisation.
This project currently is open for registration (June-September 2023).
